Sujata Massey

Sujata Massey was born in Sussex in 1964 to a German mother and an Indian father. She spent her childhood and youth in the United States and lived for several years in Hayama, Japan. She is known as the author of the Rei Shimura mystery series. Her debut novel, *The Death of a Japanese Imōto* (German title: *Die Tote im Badehaus*), received the prestigious Agatha Award. Further Rei Shimura novels include *Zuflucht im Teehaus*, *Bittere Mandelblüten*, *Tödliche Manga*, *Der Brautkimono*, *Die Tochter des Samurai*, *Japanische Perlen*, *Der japanische Liebhaber*, *Der Tote im Sumida*, and *Brennender Hibiskus*.
