Su Scott was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to London at the age of nearly 20. After becoming a mother, she cooked the dishes of her childhood to reconnect with her Korean roots and pass on the flavors of her heritage. In 2019, she won first prize in the Best Reader Recipe category of the Observer Food Monthly Awards for her recipe for kimchi jjigae. She worked as a freelance food writer and recipe developer.
