Steven C. Hayes (born 1948) is an American psychologist who was a professor of psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. He published more than 45 books and over 625 scholarly articles. Hayes is regarded as the founder of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and as an important contributor to process-based therapy.
