Steve Hamilton, born in Detroit in 1961, studied creative writing at the University of Michigan and received an award while still a student. He wrote numerous crime novels, including ten books in the series featuring investigator Alex McKnight. His work has received numerous honors. Along with Ross Thomas, Hamilton is the only author to have won the Edgar Award for both Best First Novel and Best Novel.
