Stephen Michael Stirling, also known as S. M. Stirling, is the author of numerous science-fiction and fantasy novels. He is particularly known for alternate-history fiction exploring historical “what if?” scenarios. His work also includes a trilogy co-written with James Doohan, who played Scotty in “Star Trek.” Stirling formerly worked as a lawyer and has a longstanding interest in history as an amateur historian.
