Stephanie Gessner studied literary studies and initially wrote travel reports for magazines. She later worked as a copywriter and wrote novels, short stories, and picture books for children and young adults. As a child, she collected beautiful, unusual, and funny words and used them to invent stories—an early passion that shaped her writing.
