Stephan Stachorski, born in Kaiserslautern in 1967, studied German literature, philosophy, and history in Mainz. Together with Hermann Kurzke, he edited a six-volume edition of Thomas Mann’s essays. His publications include *Fragile Republik. Thomas Mann und Nachkriegsdeutschland*. He also served as a co-editor of the *Große kommentierte Frankfurter Ausgabe*, a major annotated Frankfurt edition of Thomas Mann’s works.
