Sten Nadolny

Sten Nadolny, born in 1942 in Zehdenick an der Havel, is a German writer. He studied history and worked as a teacher and in film productions. His literary debut was »Netzkarte«, followed in 1983 by the novel »The Discovery of Slowness«, which was translated into many languages and is regarded as a modern classic of German-language literature. His other works include »Selim oder Die Gabe der Rede«, »Ein Gott der Frechheit«, »Er oder ich«, »Weitlings Sommerfrische« and »Das Glück des Zauberers«. Nadolny received, among other honors, the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize (1980), the Hans Fallada Prize (1985), the Premio Vallombrosa (1986), the Ernst Hoferichter Prize (1995) and the Weilheim Literature Prize (2010). In 2012, »Weitlings Sommerfrische« won the Book Prize of the Stiftung Ravensburger Verlag.
