Steffen Dobbert, born in 1982 in Wismar, is an author and editor. He worked for the German weekly DIE ZEIT from 2007 onward. Dobbert studied in Vaasa, Lübeck and Berlin and lived in Odesa and Kyiv as a fellow of the International Journalists’ Program. In 2017, he received the German Reporter Award. In 2022, he published the book »Ukraine verstehen: Geschichte, Politik und Freiheitskampf« (Understanding Ukraine: History, Politics and the Struggle for Freedom).
