Stefanie Stappenbeck was discovered for East German television at the age of eleven. After graduating from school, she performed at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and later worked at venues including the Berliner Ensemble and the Hamburger Kammerspiele. From the mid-1990s onward, she appeared increasingly in film and television productions, including “Dunkle Tage,” “Deutschlandspiel” and “Die Manns – Ein Jahrhundertroman.” She was involved in more than 70 cinema and television films. In 1999, she received the German Television Award’s promotional prize for “Dunkle Tage.” She also received the Golden Camera and was named Actress of the Year twice.
