Stefanie de Velasco (born 1978) grew up in the Rhineland as the child of Spanish immigrants and studied European ethnology in Bonn, Berlin and Warsaw. Her debut novel, Tigermilch, was published in 2013, translated into numerous languages and adapted for the cinema. It was followed by Kein Teil der Welt (2019) and Das Gras auf unserer Seite (2024). From November 2019 to February 2020, de Velasco staged a protest strike in front of Berlin’s Akademie der Künste in support of fairer climate policy.
