Stefan Gronert

Stefan Gronert studied art history, German studies, education and philosophy at Ruhr University Bochum. From 1993 to 2016, he headed the Graphic Arts Collection and worked as a curator of contemporary art at the Kunstmuseum Bonn. In 2016, he moved to the Sprengel Museum Hannover as curator of photography and media art; in 2023, he was appointed deputy scientific director there. He also taught at several universities and art colleges on the theory and history of modern and contemporary photography. In 2017, he initiated the blog “Foto-Kunst-Theorie,” devoted to photographic theory.
