Stefan Breuer

Stefan Breuer was born in Eisenach in 1948 and studied in Mainz, Munich, and Berlin. He received his doctorate in 1976 and completed his habilitation in 1982. From 1984/85 to 2005, he held professorships in political science and sociology in Hamburg, first at the University of Hamburg and subsequently at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Politics. From 2005 to 2014, he was Professor of Sociology at the University of Hamburg; he has been emeritus since 2014. His research has focused on Max Weber, the political right in Europe, and the (pre)historical origins of domination and statehood.
