Stanley Milgram (born in New York in 1933) was an American social psychologist. He earned his doctorate at Harvard University and later taught at Yale University and Harvard. In 1964, he received the annual social psychology prize of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his research on obedience to authority. He later became a professor of psychology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
