Simone Veenstra was born in Hesse and grew up in Franconia. She studied film, theatre and literature. Working as a freelance journalist and writer, she published novels as well as books for children and young adults. She also wrote screenplays, radio plays, content for games and interactive media, and articles for magazines. Until 2022, she ran the independent publishing house Das wilde Dutzend together with Dorothea Martin.
