Simon Carmiggelt

Simon Carmiggelt (1913–1987) was a Dutch writer. From 1932 until his death, he published more than 11,000 “Kronkels,” short, witty and incisive prose pieces that made him widely known. He received the Constantijn Huygens Prize for his collected works in 1961 and the P.C. Hooft Prize, the Netherlands’ most prestigious literary award, in 1974. Carmiggelt died in Amsterdam on 30 November 1987.
