Sigrid Nunez is an American writer. She received the National Book Award in 2018 for her novel The Friend. In 2025, she was awarded the Windham-Campbell Prize for her body of work. Her other notable books include A Feather on the Breath of God, What Are You Going Through, Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag, and The Vulnerables. In 1976, Nunez spent some time living with Susan Sontag and Sontag’s son, David Rieff, in Sontag’s New York apartment.
