Sigrid Heuck

Sigrid Heuck (1932–2014) was a German writer and illustrator. Born in Cologne, she studied fashion graphics and attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She came to writing through illustration and published numerous books for children and young adults; she also wrote for adults, including “Die alte Mühl” (1991) and “Der Windglockentempel” (1994). Her honors included the Austrian Youth Book Prize and the Grand Prize of the German Academy for Children’s and Young Adult Literature for her complete works, both awarded in 1990, as well as the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, in 2002.
