Shobha Rao

Shobha Rao emigrated from India to the United States with her family at the age of seven. Before becoming a writer, she worked for many years as a lawyer specializing in domestic violence, representing victims with immigrant backgrounds in particular. She published the short-story collection »An Unrestored Woman« (2016) and the debut novel »Girls Burn Brighter« (2018). Rao received the Katherine Anne Porter Prize, and T. C. Boyle selected her for the anthology »The Best American Short Stories 2015«.
