Shane McCrae

Shane McCrae, born in 1975 in Portland, Oregon, is an American author and poet. He has published several award-winning poetry collections. His autobiographical work “The Sun Was Low When I Found My Father” explores his upbringing in a family that concealed his Black heritage from him. McCrae has received, among other honors, a Whiting Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship, a Lannan Literary Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
