Seyran Ates

Seyran Ateş (born 1963) is a German lawyer and human rights activist. Until August 2006, she ran a law practice in Berlin, from which she withdrew because of an acute threat situation. Her work received several awards, including the Berlin Women’s Rights Prize in 2004, the Civil Courage Prize of Berlin CSD in 2005, and the Ossip K. Flechtheim Prize from the Humanist Association of Germany in 2006. In 2005, she was also named “Woman of the Year” by the German Association of Women Citizens.
