Sayo Masuda

Sayo Masuda (1925–2008) was a Japanese author. At the age of twelve, she was sold to a geisha house and worked there as a geisha. In the 1950s, she wrote an autobiographical account of her life for a women’s magazine competition; it was published in Japan in 1957. She later ran a grocery business. Masuda died in 2008 from liver cancer.
