Sandra Cisneros

Sandra Cisneros was born in Chicago in 1954 to a Mexican father and a Mexican American mother. She studied in Chicago and Iowa City before turning to writing about the people around her and questions of cultural identity. Her first work of prose, “The House on Mango Street,” received numerous literary awards and is her best-known work. Cisneros is associated with Chicana literature.
