Samuel Widmer

Samuel Widmer (1948–2017) was a Swiss physician, psychiatrist, psychotherapist and author. He worked in private practice for more than 30 years. His work focused in particular on psycholytic psychotherapy, and from 1988 to 1993 he held a special permit to conduct therapies using MDMA and LSD. Widmer co-founded the European College for the Study of Consciousness (ECBS) and the Swiss Medical Society for Psycholytic Psychotherapy (SÄPT). He also led workshops on spirituality, meditation and tantra and published extensively on these subjects.
