Sallust

Gaius Sallustius Crispus (86–35 BCE), known as Sallust, was a Roman historian and politician. He initially pursued a political career and, as a supporter of Julius Caesar, held offices including quaestor, tribune of the people, praetor, and proconsul. After becoming disillusioned with what he regarded as a political system driven by personal ambition, he withdrew from public life and devoted himself to writing history.
