Ruth K. Westheimer (1928–2024), known as Dr. Ruth, was a German-born American sex therapist, author, and media personality. Through her radio program “Sexually Speaking” and numerous television appearances, she contributed to public discussions of sex, sexuality, and relationships. During her more than 40-year career, she wrote 46 books and taught, among other institutions, at Columbia University’s Teachers College. At the age of ten, she escaped to Switzerland on a Kindertransport and survived the Holocaust; her family was murdered.
