Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933–2020) was an American lawyer and judge. She studied law at Columbia Law School and later taught as a law professor. In the 1970s, she co-founded and served as counsel for the Women’s Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union, achieving important legal victories for gender equality. In 1980, she was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. In 1993, President Bill Clinton appointed her an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
