Roman Sandgruber

Roman Sandgruber (born 1947) is an Austrian economic historian. From 1988 to 2015, he was Professor of Economic and Social History at Johannes Kepler University Linz. He is a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and has served as the academic director of several cultural-history exhibitions in Lower and Upper Austria. Sandgruber has published extensively on Austrian and general economic, social, cultural and contemporary history, including a history of the Austrian economy and books on the Rothschild and Hitler families. His best-known works include Rothschild: The Rise and Fall of the Viennese Banking Dynasty, Hitler’s Father: How the Son Became a Dictator, and Being Rich: Sophisticated Vienna around 1910.
