Roman Hankeln

Roman Hankeln studied musicology and German studies at the University of Regensburg. He received his doctorate in 1995 with a fellowship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. His dissertation, an edition and study of the Corpus of Aquitanian Offertory Prosulae from the 11th and 12th centuries, was published in 1999. After working on a research project funded by the German Research Foundation and serving as an assistant at the Institute of Musicology Weimar-Jena, he completed his habilitation there in 2004. In the same year, he was appointed to the Centre for Medieval Studies in Trondheim. Hankeln has published extensively on medieval vocal music and song before Schubert.
