Roger Willemsen (1955–2016) was a German writer, literary scholar, translator and television presenter. After completing a doctorate on the aesthetics of Robert Musil, he worked as a university lecturer, translator and London correspondent. From 1991 onward, he was active in television as a presenter, director and producer, and he also performed solo programmes on stage. His notable books include *Der Knacks*, *Die Enden der Welt*, *Momentum*, *Das Hohe Haus* and *Wer wir waren*. Willemsen was an honorary professor of literary studies at Humboldt University of Berlin. Among other distinctions, he received the Adolf Grimme Award in Gold, the Bavarian Television Award, the German Audiobook Award, the Rinke Prize and the Julius Campe Prize.
