Robertson Davies

Robertson Davies (1913–1995) was a Canadian writer. Born in Thamesville, Ontario, to immigrant parents, he grew up in rural Ontario. He studied literature in Toronto and at Balliol College, Oxford. After returning to Canada in the 1940s, he initially worked as a literary editor and later taught at various colleges. Davies wrote novels, plays, and essays. His best-known works include the 1970 novel *Fifth Business*.
