Robert A. Monroe

Robert Allen Monroe (1915–1995) studied mechanical engineering and journalism. He worked in broadcasting as a writer and program director and later built his own radio stations. He also researched methods of accelerated learning in altered states of consciousness. In 1973, he founded the Monroe Institute of Applied Sciences in Virginia, which he led until his death.
