Rob Halford, born in Birmingham, England, in 1951, is an English singer who joined the heavy-metal band Judas Priest in 1972. As the band’s lead singer, he became known for his powerful voice and leather outfits, which helped shape the visual identity of heavy metal. He left Judas Priest in the early 1990s and publicly came out as gay in 1998. He returned to the band in 2003. His autobiography, Ich bekenne, was written with author Ian Gittins.
