Rick Strassman (born 1952) studied at Stanford University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. He taught and conducted research as a professor at the University of New Mexico for ten years, carrying out clinical studies on the function of the pineal hormone melatonin. After more than twenty years, the US government approved and funded his clinical research with psychedelic substances, reportedly making him the first researcher to receive such support.
