Reza Aslan

Reza Aslan (born 1972 in Iran) is an Iranian-American scholar of religion and nonfiction author. After the Iranian Revolution, he fled with his family to the United States. He studied religion at Santa Clara University and Harvard University and earned a doctorate in sociology of religion from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Aslan taught creative writing and religion at the University of California, Riverside. He became known internationally for nonfiction books including *No god but God: The Origins, Evolution, and Future of Islam* and *Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth*. He was also a Truman Capote Fellow at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
