Ray Nayler was born in Quebec and grew up in California. For nearly half his life, he served in the U.S. Foreign Service and the Peace Corps, including as an environment, science, technology and health officer at the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. His short stories have received awards including the Asimov’s Readers’ Award. His novel *The Mountain in the Sea* received the Locus Award and was shortlisted for the Nebula Award and the Ray Bradbury Prize.
