Randolph M. Nesse

Randolph M. Nesse, MD, is an evolutionary scientist, psychiatrist, and one of the founders of evolutionary medicine. He worked as a professor of psychiatry and psychology for more than 40 years, treating patients and training therapists. As a research professor at the University of Michigan, he established one of the first clinics specializing in anxiety disorders. In 2014, he became the founding director of the Center for Evolution and Medicine at Arizona State University and held a chair in its School of Life Sciences. His best-known publications include the book *Why We Get Sick*.
