Rana Ahmad

Rana Ahmad, born in 1985, grew up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Because of the restrictions imposed on women there and her rejection of religion, she left her home country at great personal risk. She reached Germany via Turkey and Greece. After reading Friedrich Nietzsche and Charles Darwin, Ahmad turned away from Islam and became an atheist. She recounted her escape and her experiences of religious oppression in her autobiographical book.
