Rainer Rother

Rainer Rother (born 1956) is a film scholar who studied German and history and holds a doctorate. From 1991 to 2006, he headed the Zeughauskino at the German Historical Museum in Berlin and worked as an exhibition curator. In 2006, he became Artistic Director of the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen in Berlin; he also oversaw the film-history section or retrospective of the Berlin International Film Festival. Rother is the author and editor of numerous publications on film and media history, including “Deutschland 1966,” “Die Ufa – Geschichte einer Marke,” and “Weimarer Kino – neu gesehen.”
