Radclyffe Hall (born Marguerite Radclyffe Hall in 1880 in Bournemouth, England) was an English writer. She wrote poetry, short stories, and novels. She is best known for The Well of Loneliness (1928), a novel about lesbian love and social exclusion. Its publication in Britain led to significant controversy and a widely publicized trial, after which the book was banned there. Hall is regarded as an important author in LGBT literature.
