R. L. Stine

R. L. Stine (born 1943 in Columbus, Ohio; full name Robert Lawrence Stine) is an American author of children’s and young adult fiction. He studied at Ohio State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Before pursuing writing, he worked as a teacher and edited the humor magazine Bananas for ten years. He began writing stories at the age of nine after finding a typewriter in his parents’ attic. From 1986 onward, he wrote horror fiction for children and teenagers. He became known for the series Fear Street and Goosebumps, which began in 1992, was translated into numerous languages, and was adapted for film. He also previously published under the name Jovial Bob Stine.
