Quentin Skinner (born 1940) is a British historian and political theorist. He was Regius Professor of Modern History at the University of Cambridge and Professor of Humanities at the University of London; he was also a Fellow of Christ’s College, Cambridge, and a member of the British Academy. In 2006, he received the Balzan Prize for History and Theory of Political Thought. His publications include “Visionen des Politischen” (co-editor, 2009), “Freiheit und Pflicht. Thomas Hobbes’ politische Theorie” (2008), and “Machiavelli zur Einführung” (2008).
