Plutarch

Plutarch of Chaeronea was an ancient Greek writer. He lived from approximately 45 to 120/125 CE and wrote biographical and philosophical works. He is best known for his accounts of Greek and Roman personalities. Some of his biographies have survived only in part, and they are also used in historical research. His writings influenced intellectual history in Late Antiquity, Byzantium, and Europe.
