Pippo Pollina, born in Palermo in 1963, is an Italian singer-songwriter and author. He attended a conservatory and studied law. In the 1980s, he became involved in the anti-Mafia movement and worked, among other publications, for »I Siciliani«, founded by Giuseppe Fava. After Fava was murdered by the Mafia, Pollina left Sicily in 1985 and initially traveled the world as a street musician. His musical work comprises more than 200 songs released on numerous studio and live albums. He collaborated with artists including Franco Battiato, Inti-Illimani, Georges Moustaki and Konstantin Wecker, and received several awards. »Der Andere« is his debut novel.
