Pierre L. Ibisch (born 1967) is a habilitated biologist and botanist. In 2004, he was appointed Professor of Nature Conservation at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde, where he held several research professorships focusing on biodiversity, natural resource management and ecosystem-based sustainable development. Before that, he had worked in development cooperation since 1991, particularly in Bolivia and other countries in Latin America, Asia, Europe and Africa. His research has addressed ecosystems and climate change, forest conservation and the effects of forest management. In 2019, he received an honorary doctorate from the National Forestry University of Ukraine in Lviv, and in 2022 he was awarded the NABU Forest Medal. Two orchid species, a bromeliad and a frog species have been named after him.
