Philippa Gregory (born 1954 in Kenya) studied history in Brighton and earned a PhD from the University of Edinburgh on eighteenth-century English literature. She worked as a journalist and as a producer for television and radio, and wrote children’s and young adult books, short stories, travel writing and screenplays in addition to novels. She became known particularly for historical fiction about the Wars of the Roses and the Elizabethan era, including the Plantagenet and Tudor series. Her works have been adapted for the stage and screen. She was appointed CBE for services to literature and charity.
