Philipp Gurt

Philipp Gurt was born in 1968 in Graubünden, Switzerland, the seventh of eight children in a mountain farming family, and grew up in various children’s homes and institutions. He wrote short stories as a teenager and completed his first novel at the age of 20. The Swiss writer has published novels, crime fiction and autobiographical books. In Schattenkind (2016), he explored his childhood experiences. He received the Swiss Authors’ Prize in 2017 for the book. Several of his works reached the top of the Swiss bestseller list.
