Philip Mansel, born in London in 1951, is a British historian whose work focuses on the history of France and the Middle East. His publications include “Aleppo: The Rise and Fall of Syria’s Great Merchant City” and “Constantinople: City of the World’s Desire, 1453–1924”. His book “Der Prinz Europas”, about Prince Charles-Joseph de Ligne, has also been published in German.
