Peter Trawny, born in Gelsenkirchen in 1964, is a philosopher. He studied philosophy in Bochum and received his doctorate from the University of Wuppertal with a dissertation on Martin Heidegger. After completing his habilitation, he taught at universities including those in Wuppertal, Vienna, and Shanghai. In 2012, he founded the Martin Heidegger Institute at the University of Wuppertal. Trawny has published books on subjects including Heidegger, intimacy, pop, German identity, and revolution. He has also contributed to the editing of the Martin Heidegger Complete Edition and the “Black Notebooks”.
