Peter Scholl-Latour

Peter Scholl-Latour was born in Bochum in 1924. He earned a doctorate from the Sorbonne and diplomas from the Institut National des Sciences Politiques in Paris and the Lebanese University in Beirut, where he studied Arab and Islamic studies. From 1950 onward, he worked as a journalist, including as a correspondent in Africa and Indochina, head of a Paris bureau, television director at WDR, and publisher of Stern. His notable books include Der Tod im Reisfeld (1980), Der Wahn vom Himmlischen Frieden (1990), Eine Welt in Auflösung (1993), Das Schlachtfeld der Zukunft (1996), and Lügen im Heiligen Land (1998).
